Program Overview

Council Rock Lacrosse Association is part of the Philadelphia Area Girls Lacrosse Association (PAGLA) East League and, as such, complies with all PAGLA (East) rules and regulations.  A full copy of rules and regulations may be found on the PAGLA website (http://www.pagla.org/).

CRLA plays against other youth programs within Southeastern Pennsylvania, mainly in Bucks and Montgomery Counties.

The PAGLA (East) spring season typically begins in mid-March with playoffs ending the first weekend in June.

Our K-2nd Grade program is designed for beginners new to the sport.  This age group typically practices as a large group during the week, and plays games on a smaller field against other areas teams.

Required Equipment

Field:   A stick, mouthguard and protective eyewear.  Headgear and close fitting gloves are optional

Goalie:   A goalie stick, mouthguard, helmet with a facemask, a separate throat protector, padded gloves and chest protector

You can purchase equipment at any big box sporting good store, as well as lacrosse specific stores such Universal Lacrosse in Doylestown, as well as online at and Lax.com, Lacrossemonkey.com, among others.

Girls Grades 7-8

At this age group, PAGLA (East) has two levels of competition: A (the top level) and B.  CRLA has fielded teams in each of these levels.

  • "A" teams have players with the highest skill level and are typically 8th graders, but could include highly skilled 7th graders. CRLA will hold evaluations during the winter workouts for team placements.
  • "B" teams provide competitive play for players that are still developing their skills and/or new to the sport.  The B team is typically comprised of 7th graders, but may include some 8th graders relatively new to the sport.
  • "A" League players must be in a grade no higher than 8th in the season in which they are playing.

Girls Grades 5-6

At this age group, PAGLA (East) has two levels of competition: A and B.  CRLA has fielded teams in each of these levels.

  • "A" teams have players with the highest skill level and are typically 6th graders, but could include highly skilled 5th graders. CRLA will hold evaluations during the winter workouts for team placements.
  • "B" teams provide competitive play for players that are still developing their skills and/or are new to the sport.  The B team is typically comprised of 5th graders, but may include some 6th graders relatively new to the sport.
  • "B" League players must be in a grade no higher than the 6th grade in the season in which they are playing.

Girls Grades 3-4

PAGLA (East) has only one level of competition in recognition of instructional and developmental needs of players in this age group.  Game format is 7 v 7 on a modified field. Games are played round-robin style.  Goalie position is introduced.

Girls Grades K-2

Girls in grades K-2 will learn the basics of the sport with the objective of introducing lacrosse to girls at the youngest ages.  The focus of this program is to provide an environment for girls to learn the game of lacrosse through drill and game formats.  The age-group practices as one large group but is then broken down into smaller teams for games.  Games will be played with 7 players on the field to maximize the amount of time and touches for each player.  Practices are typically held 2 times per week.  During the course of the season, games will be typically scheduled on Saturday mornings against our neighboring lacrosse organizations.
